Creating life smiles

What to Expect from Dental Bridges | Dr. Jacob Long

Wilmington, NC Dentist

At The Dental Studio, we understand the importance of a complete and healthy smile. If you are missing one or more teeth, Dr. Jacob Long may recommend a dental bridge as a solution. Here’s a guide to help you understand what to expect with a dental bridge.

The Purpose of a Dental Bridge

Tooth loss can result from periodontal disease, injury, extraction, and other factors. When teeth are missing, the surrounding teeth can shift, leading to changes in your bite and increased susceptibility to gum disease. A dental bridge is designed to fill the gap left by missing teeth, restoring your smile and maintaining your oral health. This device can be either removable or fixed, featuring one or more replacement teeth anchored to neighboring teeth for stability. A dental bridge helps keep your teeth aligned, protects your gums, and ensures proper oral function.

What to Expect

First Visit:
Your first visit involves preparing the surrounding teeth and taking an impression. This impression is used to create a custom dental bridge that fits perfectly in your mouth. We may provide a temporary bridge to protect your teeth and gums while your permanent bridge is being fabricated.

Second Visit:
During the second visit, we will fit your custom-made bridge into place. Dr. Jacob Long will make any necessary adjustments to ensure it fits comfortably and securely. We will also discuss a follow-up plan to ensure your bridge continues to fit well and remains comfortable over time.

Caring for Your Dental Bridge

To maintain your bridge and overall oral health, brush your teeth twice daily and floss regularly. If your bridge is removable, keep it in water or a denture cleaning solution when not in use. For additional care tips and information on keeping your bridge in good condition, our team at The Dental Studio is here to help.

Dental bridges restore both the appearance and function of your mouth. If you are missing teeth, schedule an appointment with Dr. Jacob Long. We will conduct a thorough examination to determine if a dental bridge is the right solution for you.
